I found these classic advertising images over the past few months, some i can remember as a kid, they really bring back some happy memories, This De Vorss Double Orange I think is printed later but very cool. Great Old Australian Advertising

Some wonderful art here I think you will agree, these classic old vintage adverts are from the 1940's, im not sure of the artists name on the Nestles one with the baby, the signanure is hard to read - but I think her first name was Maud. We have another similar one for Nestles (drawn by the same artist) with the baby in the bath! with the same hat on!

Here are some lovely original French ads we just got in stock, famous names & faces include Brigitte Bardot for Chanel in colour for the movie La Parisienne. A gorgeous & Rare black & white Chanel Ad not showing the famous bottle! A L'Oreal Ad from the late 1920's. A great rare Vespa French Ad with the great graphic logo & showing the scooter. And 2 great Rene Gruau Ads - 1 for Blizzand from the early 1960's and a fabulous Rene Gruau drawn & signed perfume Ad. All these wonderful Ads will be for sale in the shop next week. We are busy with lots of great retro furniture at the moment, these new items will be in the shop from tomorrow (Friday) & late next week also... Happy hunting

Here are some great Al Moore Pin-Ups we just got in, they all date from the 1950's. We especially love the "Heartbreaker" one, its a large oversize foldout we just had this one framed and its due in the WAC store on friday - along with these and some other nice Varga & Petty girls, more on those soon!

We just got these lovely late 1940's ads in stock, some old household names still going strong today. Gotta love the little Ovaltine girl in her pig-tails & polka dots, also the "Little Nipper" from His Masters Voice & an early Morris Minor from 1949! Lots more in the shop now over at the WAC.

The Perfect House 1950 style!

Just found these great prints from a magazine from 1950. The focus is on light & living with all the mod-cons of a modern (then futuristic) look. You will notice some of the extras added to the house nothing too out of this world, a bar, movie & tv room then look in the gaqrage area, space for your car & helicopter! The architect was Sherwood, Mills & Smith with renderings by GCR (George Cooper Randolph Associates). The boys at M.I.T. cooked this up with the idea of an all year round escape feel and the esthetics effect of human emotion. Take a look

Atomic Robots! Look out!!

Here are some of the best Movie Robots ever seen, if you know if any others - speak up and lets hear about them. The Grand Daddy of all Sci-Fi Classics is "The Day The Earth Stood Still" from 1951, also my favourite "Robby The Robot" from the MGM Classic "Forbidden Planet", This movie had one big advantage over most 50's Sci-Fi's - it was in colour!

The Antique Centre this week

We had a rearrange this week at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre with a couple of new pieces of furniture coming in.
Roy has been working on this kitchen hutch for a few weeks, it was covered from top to bottom in thick brown paint when we got it, Roy stripped it back to reveal the lovely original lemon and green, touched up the paint and sanded back for a smooth shabby look.

A new bar with a glass top and lovely wood base.

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Salute to "Smithy" This rare and amazing original vintage Ad is on ebay now being sold by Ad-Retro. Wonderful graphics and considering the content and the age of this Australian Ad - 1945 makes it one rare collectable indeed, we hope it finds a good home. The Ad is for ATLANTIC PRODUCTS, "Smithy used Atlantic products in the following epic flights.

A street in Hawthorne

We are so lucky to have got through the floods with little damage to our neighbourhood, several 100s of houses with damage, but nothing compared to some. Our hearts go out to those who have suffered such dramatic losses of property and loved ones.

New Framed Pieces at the Antique Centre Today

We have been busy hanging some new pieces on the wall today at the Woolloongabba Antique Centre. A really different 'Doors' concert poster advertising tickets selling from $2.60 to $3.50 hung in the centre of our wall with the funky atomic wallpaper.

A giant (pardon the pun) 'Attack of the 50 Foot Woman' poster measures 120cm x 40cms hung with a great retro 'Faster Pussycat!Kill! Kill!' poster

We have some fabulous Batman(Adam West) and Robin(Burt Ward) autographs mounted with photos ready to frame.
